Historic Savannah for Families!

We usually spend one a week a summer in Hilton Head, SC. This summer, we decided to take an easy day trip down to Savannah, GA and see some wonderful historic sites! Savannah is a great destination for families. Many of the historic sites cater to kids and adults. It is easy to get around when using a trolley and you can customize your visit based on the interest of everyone in the group!

The drive from Hilton Head down to Savannah is super easy and took us just under an hour. We had our plan in hand, and as we drove over the bridge in to Savannah, we were right where we needed to be downtown. We used the Old Town Trolley company to be our “transportation” for the day. It took us to all of the sites we wanted to visit with easy on/off privileges.

Take a look at the amazing places we were able to visit and we can’t wait to make another trip down to Savannah for a longer stay and see all this great city has to offer families!

For the little boys AND big boys in your family, the Georgia State Railroad Museum is a great stop. It is located just behind the Visitors center, where you can park for free for the trolley tour. This museum is restoring amazing pieces of our railroad history and looking to take their museum to the next level by connecting the train yard tracks back to the main line. Stop by and help them reach their goal!

Savannah is such a family friendly location. We can’t wait to travel back and spend some additional time exploring all the city has to offer. It was hard to do it all in one day with younger children and in the heat. We are planning a weekend down to see some more great historic sites in the very near future!
